Four Wheeler editors name the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon and Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon the Best 4x4 Vehicle of the Decade. The editors also call the four-door Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon the decade’s most significant 4x4 vehicle. 

Chrysler Group’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Global Electric Motorcars (GEM), reaches a milestone in the Low-speed Vehicle (LSV) industry by selling more than 40,000 GEM battery-electric vehicles.

Chrysler Group announces Trenton South Engine Plant (TSEP) is awarded a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold Green Building System certification for meeting the highest environmental standards. TSEP is just one of four auto manufacturing facilities to receive a LEED rating of any kind and the only engine manufacturing facility in the world to achieve the honor.

Chrysler Group invests nearly $374 million and added 1,250 new jobs in north-central Indiana, making it the largest transmission installation in the world. The announcement included an investment of $212 million at Kokomo Transmission, Kokomo Casting and Indiana Transmission I Plants for additional tooling and equipment to produce the eight- and nine-speed transmissions, which will add up to 400 new jobs.

Chrysler Group LLC invests $162 million to establish an assembly site for the nine-speed transmission in Tipton, Indiana - Tipton Transmission Plant - and create up to 850 new jobs.

Chrysler Group invests $19.6 million in its Toledo Machining Plant in Perrysburg, Ohio; to increase capacity of the torque converter it’s machining for the nine-speed transmission. With this announcement, the company’s total investments in its U.S. operations since June 2009 rose to $5.2 billion.
