What’s Black And Blue And Cool All Over?

The Mopar ’17 Dodge Challenger

Mopar is celebrating 80 years in the automotive parts business by serving up its own anniversary cake of sorts -  a 2017 Dodge Challenger iced out in Pitch Black and either Contusion Blue or Billet Silver exterior paint.

Mopar serves an anniversary slice of cool.

The first - of what will be 160 of these limited-edition cars - was recently sold by Ed Tomko Chrysler Dodge Jeep and Ram in Avon Lake, Ohio. Due to the unique custom paint process, Mopar ’17 Dodge Challenger vehicles will be arriving in showrooms throughout the summer. All have already been allocated to FCA US dealers.

Eighty models are available in Pitch Black/Contusion Blue and the other 80 are offered in Pitch Black/Billet Silver.

The Mopar ’17 Dodge Challenger stands as a testament to a division of FCA US that has continuously evolved through the years.  Mopar – a contraction of the words “motor” and “parts” was created on August 1, 1937, as the name of a line of antifreeze products. Today, Mopar now provides service, parts and customer-care for all FCA vehicles around the world.  The name can also be found in motorsports.

Under the direction of Pietro Gorlier, Head of Parts and Service (Mopar) for FCA - Global, Mopar has expanded since it now cranks out custom-made accessories any time a new FCA vehicle is launched.

The standard satin black of the Shaker Hood package by Mopar and Shaker Hood scoop surround is painted Pitch Black, contributing to the unified upper exterior appearance of the Mopar ’17 Dodge Challenger.

The Mopar ’17 Dodge Challenger has a hood scoop and a spoiler, 20-inch wheels, SRT Hellcat exhaust tips and other touches. Its 6.4-liter Hemi V-8 pumps out 485 horsepower, and it comes with a six-speed manual transmission.

Each customer ordering a Mopar ’17 Challenger will receive an owner’s kit that includes everything from a “birth certificate” with vehicle specifications, date of manufacture and proprietary vehicle number to valve stem caps and a key chain.

The vehicle is available in both the U.S. and Canada, with a U.S. Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price of $55,790, excluding taxes and destination fees.
